38-14 Haysi.

I can't comment much, got there at halftime. Haysi started playing their subs in the 3rd quarter, so I didn't get to see a lot of their first team. They must have another good team. The QB looked good and they have a heck of a tight end.

Pound has good skill people, their line will be the key as to how much success they have this season. They only had 29 dressed so depth might be a concern for them. They'll be a solid team if their skill people can stay healthy, but all them were playing both ways.

Didn't bring my camera because I was about to take mine to the big jamboree at Bullitt Park but learned my lesson when it started pouring the rain.. thank God I didn't take it with me.

Today I went to pass at Bullitt Park and just as me and my brother were passing on the basketball court outside of the restrooms (just to be passing in the park), a huge lightning bolt struck the field at around the 15-20 yard line on the side of the field closest to us, then a HUGE boom of thunder shook the entire place. Immediately afterwards we took off towards the vehicle to make a getaway! That was scary as heck so because of that alone, I didn't take my camera.. it poured the rain afterwards so I didn't trust it for the rest of the evening.

ANYWAYS sorry to go off track.. now about the scrimmage:

Pound looked decent at times, but really sloppy at others. Their running game was OK with #7 doing most of the running from what I saw, but their passing game seemed more hit-and-miss than anything. Their defense was probably their best aspect, because there were a few occassions in which they did good at holding Haysi back and forcing a 4-and-out.

Haysi was a bit better on both Offense and Defense. Their running game seemed to be the strongest as well, with a hit-and-miss passing game. Their defense did really good at pass protection and also stopping Pound from getting too much yardage when running.

Overall both teams didn't look too bad, but Pound could use some improvement, as Haysi really layed it to them, especially in the second half of play.

I really thought Haysi would be more of a passing team given the chatter in the off season there TE should be a heck of a ball player though

This game overall was a poor performance on Pound's part. The offense just couldn't get the ball moving like they wanted. The only time when Pound did move the ball some was when the tailback cut to the outside and ran the ball. But when the FB tryed to move the ball up the middle, he was tackeled mostly as soon as the ball was handed off. Our linemen for the most part are very young and have little if any experience. Pound has 4 starters on the line that are out due to injuries. These 4 starter pretty much play both sides of the ball also. But even with these starters out, the ones replacing them did a poor job IMO. Defense-Pound was a little better than last weeks scrimmage. Still more room to improve if they even want to play the teams in the LPD.

Overall I was very disappointed in Pound's performance. We have starters that act like they don't know what using your pads to hit means. These players are supposed to be leaders but they sure didn't act like it. When a starter will not hit, block, or execute plays then they should ride the bench. And when some of the starters did try to make a tackle they were arm tackeling. What a joke!! Too afraid to use their pads and hit. There were some freshmen that when they got in to play really showed a desire to make plays happen and even seen them tackeling and hitting.

Pound's coaches really need to look at some of our players, cause they are playing positions they shouldn't. Key players are being shifted to play positions they've never played on Varsity level. Our recievers and tightends are really working on a passing game, but yet some of those are young and need experience. We just really need some adjustment on our OL. Without our starting OL we are hurting and it shows.

Haysi Offense- They looked good overall, even their second string looked good and really made plays happen. They more less done whatever they wanted to do. #7 really was one of their best players, short pass or long he was open. He will be the key player do doubt in games ahead.
Haysi Defense- They were ready to play football and did a heck of a job stopping our running game up the middle. They have some big lineman up front and some good size backs as well. Haysi had pretty good coverage on Pound's recievers, Pound had a couple of short passes that got some yards but not enough to result in TD's. Haysi's team as a whole wanted to hit and execute. I believe most of their starters played both sides of the ball as well. Haysi did a great job overall, doing whatever they wanted to do.

Hopefully this sheds some light on the game. I have a son that plays so I am somewhat biased to Pound, but overall try and respect the other teams coaches and players. I wish all teams good luck this year and pray for all players safety coming out of every game injury free.

Thanks for the in-depth report juggernaut...I wanted to make the game but didn't get to. Sounds about like what I expected. I was not impressed with Pound last week against St. Paul. They have some issues in the trenches, despite some talented skill people. I expected Haysi would be the favorite to win the BDD and sounds like they are on track to make a run at it. #7 is Chad Barton, he was 2nd team all-state last year and could be considered Haysi's most important player this year.
